WHY TRAVEL DESTINISTAS

I was 17 years old when travel first showed me how much bigger my world could be.

Growing up in Houston’s Glenwood Forest as one of four children raised by a single mother, travel was not something we did often. My world was my neighborhood, school, friends, and the familiar rhythm of everyday life.

Then my older sister told me about the Mickey Leland Kibbutzim Foundation.

After a 20 person panel interview, I became one of seven students selected for a six week journey to Israel. I climbed Mount Masada, floated in the Dead Sea, and was baptized in the Jordan River.

That experience changed the way I saw the world and what I believed was possible for my own life. Travel introduced me to new cultures, people, food, history, faith, and possibilities beyond everything I had known.

Years later, that same sense of discovery became the foundation for Travel Destinistas.

I entered the travel industry in 2021 and initially focused on planning trips for individual travelers. Then, in May 2023, I hosted 55 women aboard Carnival Breeze for our Travel Cuties Cruise.

That experience changed the direction of my business.

I watched women who began as strangers connect before the trip, meet in person, travel together, laugh, share stories, and return home with new friendships. Some remain connected today.

That was when I realized I did not simply want to book vacations.

I wanted to curate experiences that bring people together.

Today, Travel Destinistas is a full service travel agency specializing in thoughtfully curated travel for women, couples, families, friends, milestone celebrations, and hosted group experiences.

I am especially passionate about creating spaces where Black women feel seen, considered, comfortable, and free to enjoy the world without carrying the responsibility of managing every detail.

My philosophy is simple.

You focus on packing and playing.

I focus on the details.

From before wheels up to the welcome drink, I thoughtfully consider how each experience flows, where we stay, what we experience, when we explore, when we slow down, and how every piece comes together.

Because for me, travel is about more than checking another destination off a list.

It is about experiencing the culture, connecting with people, making memories, finding moments to breathe, and sometimes meeting women who arrive as strangers and leave feeling like sisters.

There is an extraordinary world beyond what we already know.

I ended up going on my first solo trip to Cancun for my birthday. She gave me different options and a affordable payment plan with monthly payment reminders. I was so nervous and so scared but Jermany was with me every step of the way. Starting from planning, booking the trip, and getting my passport. To top it off she gave me step by step instructions on how to get to the airport, getting my transportation and getting to the resort. Every time I needed her she was a phone call, text or email away. My trip was a success. Now I am planning a group trip to Jamaica for my daughter's graduation. Everything I wanted my trip to be it was exactly that. Even issues that arose when we arrived were taken care of quickly. She was readily available when we traveled even though there was a big time difference. She even welcomed us back once we landed. Very professional and I will use her again. 2024 Update: if you have to cancel a trip and use  the "credit" you are promised you will have a very difficult time receiving it. So difficult that I'm biting the bullet of a little over $2500. Had to send a million emails to even get correspondence regarding my travel credit then finally get responses going and find out I can't use my travel credit, that I paid for, for my son even though he was on my initial trip plans. Apparently she splits your credit how they see fit even if u paid for it all. She does great if u don't have to cancel but if you cancel, good luck getting the next trip booked and you definitely are not getting a refund. *** Girl save it, who would not be frustrated after emailing someone since March. Being patient, changing plans over and over to be accommodating and understanding all to be ignored for weeks and weeks. Send multiple emails following up on previous emails, even texted you. It took me to update my review for a quick response. Saw the review change and you had a response ready in a few hours, the same day, what a coincidence. Second of all I reviewed everything you sent me and nothing says my child, that I paid for, is free AND if that was the case where is the explanation I asked you for in that same email you referenced? I asked for a policy or something in writing that stated my son was excluded. As a business owner shouldn't you be able provide a policy, explanation, something in writing so we understand and not feel like our money is unaccounted for...  despite the client being frustrated? Oh okay. Would you not be frustrated if u felt your money was being played with for months and months? That's why I changed my rating, the customer service this go around has been horrific to say the least. This could've been handled in March, end of April at the latest and none of this would be even occurring now had you had better customer service THIS time. I'll do you a solid and give it a 3, that's average since the first time was amazing. I don't do bad business so I frown upon those that do and then blame the client or customer.

I had the time of my life and have to thank Jermany Dorsey for being a great travel agent and also a great friend/sister she made sure we were taken of and had a blast before she rested or took care of herself and no matter when u called or texted her that u had an issue it was fixed immediately and even when someone texted her because they had an issue she texted everyone to make sure everyone was ok She is truly heaven sent Jermany Dorsey when I travel it will only be with you.
